Instant coconut chutney is related to south India. It evolved because of today's fast lifestyle. Some People like fresh coconuts so they always try to eat it in any form. Instant coconut chutney is basically for coconut lovers. 

Instant coconut chutney is made up of coconut, coriander leaves, garlic, curry leaves, green chillies,cumin seed, salt and lemon. If you reduce or increase ingredients, it  will not affect its taste and flavour too much. So go ahead and try variations as per your taste. It's so tasty that you can eat it with a spoon.

What are ingredients in Instant coconut chutney?

  • 1 cup grated Coconut (ओले नारळ)

Wet Masala

  • ½ cup Coriander Leaves (कोथिंबीर) 
  • 2-3 chopped Garlic (लह्सुन )
  • 9-10 Curry Leaves (कढीपत्ता)
  • 2-3 Green Chilies (हिरवी मिरची / हरी मिरची)
  • ½ Lemon(नींबू )

Dry Masala

  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Seed (जीरे)
  • Salt (मीठ)

How to prepare Instant Coconut Chutney?

Take the grated coconut in the mixture pot.

Add green chillies into it.

Then add curry leaves into it.

step 4

Put coriander leaves into it.

step 5

Add chopped garlic cloves into it.

step 6

Then add cumin seeds into it.

step 7

Add 1 teaspoon salt into it.

step 8

Squeeze half lemon into it.

step 9

Blend it.

step 10

Mixture should be rough.

Special Note

  • Always use fresh coconut for good taste. 
  • If you want sour taste, you can add lemon or curd in this chutney.
  • Use fresh coconut for more juicy and flavoured chutney.
  • If you want spicy taste then increase the quantity of green chillies.
  • If you like pudina then you can add a small amount of pudina. 
  • You have to avoid ingredients like onion, tamarind and peanuts etc. It will completely mess with the taste of chutney.

Variations of Instant Coconut Chutney

  • You can add lemon to increase sour taste.
  • Add green chillies to increase spicy taste.
  • You can also add a small amount of  Pudina if you like mint aroma. 
  • Cut green chillies in medium size pieces. Add it above the chutney bowl to enhance its look.  

How to Serve?

  • You can eat Instant coconut chutney with a spoon. It has a great taste. 
  • You can also eat it with Sabji-Roti or Dal-Rice.
  • We can eat it with any kind of paratha/thalipeeth.
  • It's a taste enhancer of any kind of nashta. So you can eat it with Poha, Upama, Idli, Dosa, Vadas, Samosa and Kachori.   

How to preserve?

You can use a plastic container and store it in the refrigerator. It is made up of fresh and wet coconut. Wet coconut does not have a long life. So you can store it for 2-3 days. I would suggest you not to keep this chutney for more than two days. Wet coconut started changing taste after two days. 

How to increase the taste of chutney while eating ?

You don't need to add anything in it. It's already tasty and lip-smacking. If you add oil then you will mess with taste. 

If you want then only you can add lemon juice to increase sour taste.

My experience with Instant Coconut Chutney

I never heard any complaints about Instant Coconut Chutney from anyone. Everyone says it's yummy and tasty. I always got a good compliment to my main dish because of this chutney. This is one of the best side dish from my menu. 

Whenever I go for an outing and the main dish is Idli.  Then I make this Instant Coconut chutney over regular wet coconut chutney. It is not liquid so when traveling I can carry it easily.

Whenever I want some different taste then I create this chutney. It's completely different in taste than any other coconut chutney. We create it in small amounts so it can be finished in a day or two days.
