Dry Masala



How to make chana dal chutney?
Take one cup chana dal
Wash it with water
Soaked it in water for 4-5 hours
Drain the water and take it in mixer pot
Add 2-3 green chillies
Put 3-4 curry leaves
Add 2 teaspoon chopped coriander leaves
Put one teaspoon cumin seeds
Blend it to fine course
Take it out in the bowl
Add ½ cup curd into the mixture
Also add 1 teaspoon salt
And add ½ teaspoon sugar
Mix it properly
Take Tadka pan and heat it
Add 1 teaspoon oil and heat it
Put ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
Also add ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
And add ½ teaspoon turmeric powder and stir it
Add 3-4 curry leaves and stir it
Put 1-2 dry red chillies
Stir it and pour this tadka on dal and dahi mixture
Ready to serve

Meanwhile, in South India this chutney is prepared in different ways. Fresh Coconut is added in this chutney in South India. But, I prepared this chutney without coconut.

My experience
In Maharashtra during festive feast, the plate is incomplete without different chutneys. Undoubtedly, this Chutney is one of my all time favorite chutney. I still remember in my home during Ganesh Chaturthi festival, there was a big feast for relatives and friends (it's still there but I cant attain it now). Surprisingly, every year the menu was like Pumpkin spicy sabji, spinach sabji, kadhi, rice, pakora, laddu, papad and this chutney. Undoubtedly, year by year menu changes due to choice and availability but this chutney is inseparable.
In the same way, my husband loves this chutney. So, I always prepared it at home. Most important, it's very simple, easy, delicious and time efficient. on the positive side, no pre-cooking efforts are required. Undoubtedly, I would suggest you try it at home.
